Hello! My name is Rafia. And welcome to my blog, Cake & Cows!

Why cake and cows? Well, because I love (and I mean LOVE) both things, but I am also a sucker for alliteration. Cake & Cows has a nice ring to it, no? I thought so, too! :)

So, is this blog about cake and cows, then? Kinda, but not really.

While my love for cake and cows permeates this blog, I by no means limit what I write to these two subjects. In my 15+ years of blogging, I have come to discover (and rediscover!) that the reflective process that blogging requires is one that makes my life and my understanding of life itself richer.

Moving beyond the pseudo-philosophical nature of blogging, what do I actually write about? It depends. My blog is about my life. Not every aspect of my life, mind you, but parts that I hope would resonate with others somewhere out there in the ether. A bit of an imagined audience, if you will.

Depending on the kind of day I am having, my posts can range anywhere from my thoughts on being a Muslim (and a headscarf-wearing Muslim woman at that!) living in the 21st century, to confronting my complicated relationship with my body, and the perennial topic, whether or not I should get a PhD. As divergent as all these topics may seem, they all feed into one another in some way. And if they don’t, I’ll try to make them! All with a dash of cake and cows sprinkled on top!

I invite you to read some of my recent posts to get a better sense of who I am and this blog. If you like what you read, you can subscribe via email — or if you’re on WordPress, simply follow me. If you have a question or comment about this blog or for me, feel free to reach out. If you write nice things, I will most definitely respond ;)

Have a great day and thanks for reading!
